An outbreak of the African swine fever virus in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of North Ossetia has so far killed 1,076 pigs, the regional emergency service said on Wednesday.

“A total of 27 pigs have died in the past 24 hours,” the statement said.

The outbreak was registered on June 30 and more than 3,400 pigs have been culled since. 7,500 potentially-infected animals have yet to be put down.

Preliminary reports said that the infection may have been brought in by wild pigs. The virus can survive for up to 15 weeks in raw pork, and up to six months in processed meat. The virus, which causes lethal hemorrhagic disease in pigs, does not pose a threat to humans.

Personnel have been deployed to guard the province’s border, to ensure that no pork products are taken out of North Ossetia, which has approximately 115,000 domestic pigs.

Free range chicken

In the past years commercial free range chicken production is making an impact in the market. Sasso and kabirs are the most popular breeds that are being raised.

One reason why it is becoming popular is because of the cost to produce. Compared to commercial broilers, free range chicken doesn’t relay heavily in commercial feeds. You just need an area and let them peck anything that they can in the ground. But of course, you still need to supplement them with corn, agri by-products etc…

Another reason is that some say these breeds are more resistant to disease compared to the 45 days broiler.

Best of all, the native taste of these chickens which add aroma and taste to any chicken recipe you could imagine.

The only drawback of the this chicken is their slower growth rate compared to commercial chicken. But overall, as long as you have the market, it is a profitable business to do.

Animal Feeds dealership – Poultry Supply

In the province it is common to see animal feeds vendors or Agricultural and Poultry supplier. As we all know animal feeds like swine, poultry, duck, quail, and fish is very in demand there.

So, how could we be a dealer of a feed company and how do we earn from the feeds?

In some big feed company they require a would be distributor to make a bond/collateral before they can sell their product. Also, the company will require you a certain minimum bags per month which you can only sale at a specified area. Example, they will give you the right to sell their feeds in San miguel Bulacan but you need to sell about 10,000 bags per month. 10, 000 is a huge volume but as a distributor you could then create your downline or dealer. Now, you’re dealer will be the one that will sell the product in a specified barangay. You could also give your dealer a target minimum volume per month.
