“Pregnancy out of wedlock “not a ground for dismissal

The supreme court of the Philippines declared the dismissal of a catholic school employee on the grounds of premarital sex and pregnancy out of wedlock was illegal.

According to the Supreme Court morality according to the law is different from religious morality. Morality as per law is the norm or secular morality and not base on religious belief.

In a gist, it means that having premarital sex and having a child out of wedlock is not punishable by law and a tenure of an employee is protected by the constitution and laws based on the labour code and other law of the Philippines should be the basis for dismissal.

It also state that her act is not considered immoral because they are both single. So, if maybe one of them is married then it is another story and case.
