I am a ginebra fan since the time of Jaworski, Ampalayo, Cuenco, Loyzaga brothers, Distrito, Mamaril, etc…then came the second batch of the never say die Ginebra new breeds lead by Aquino, David, Locsin, Hizon, Jarencio, lago etc.. then came the batch of the fast and the furious Caguio, Helterbrand , Menk, Santos, Hatfield, tubid etc. and now the current team composed of Slaughter, Tenorio, Aguilar, Baracael ,Ellis etc.. Eric Menk to Global port
At 39 Eric would try to prove himself to the younger guys of Global Port. Due to injuries that plague Major pain in the past few years you have seen his effectivity as a center declines but with a new team we hope that Erik Menk shows us the Vintage Erik Menk which is a monster in the court.
James Forrester 4th draft pick of Ginebra
The previous rumor was slightly true, the 4th round pick of Red Bull was traded to Ginebra not for Labagala but instead for Rico Maierhofer and Willy Wilson. It’s a surprise that Ginebra pick James Forrester although he have a built ready to bang bodies with the Pro’s his shooting touch is not that consistent. He will really hurt you when he finds his rhythm but he is non-existent in his off days… In a good note he could replace Willy Wilson as a enforcer…
Monfort traded to Ginebra for Labagala and 4th draft pick
The trade seems to be one sided but still it was approved by the board of the PBA. The next question will be who will Ginebra pick? Rumors have it that Helterbrand is thinking of retirement in the near future so probably a shooting guard is the most likely candidate. Jeric Teng is a good candidate. The starting five would then be: Slaughter, Ellis, Caguio, Teng and Tenorio. Second Unit would be Aguilar, Reyes, Baracael, Urbiztondo and Monfort. Ryan Beunafe is also a good candidate a little slower for the run and gun style but being hefty is also an advantage especially in a team like Ginebra which luck muscles especially since the retirement of the H bomb Rudy Hatfield. Lastly, i think Jeff Vidal’s shooting hands is a good addition for BGK.
As a fan i hope BGK pick Jeric Teng for the simple reason that in the near future pick Jeron Teng so you will have another siblings playing along side under BGK, remember chito and joey the loyzaga brothers…
