Also known as:

Agho, aghog, ipel, kabahero, kariskis, kompokompitis, loiloi, santa Elena

 

Parts used: Dried leaves.

 

Uses:

Anthelmintic- for ascaris and trichina.

Adults: take 1 teaspoon of powdered dried seeds, either alone or mixed with condensed milk and follow it up with ½ glass of water. The preparation should be taken 2 hours afeter a meal, as a single dose. Repeat the dose after 1 week if the first one was not effective.

Children: 7-8 years old ½ to ½ teaspoon. 10-12 years old ½ -2/3 teaspoon.

Adverse reaction- stomach ache and diarrhea.

Betel, betel leaf pepper, buyo, buyo-anis, buyo-buyo, buyog, buyu gaoed, gaued, gauod, gok, ikmong-iloko, itmo, kanisi, mamin, mammon, samat.

 

Uses:

Gas pain – spread oil on leaf, warm, and apply on abdomen.

Constituents:

Volatile oil, chavicol, betelphenol, eugenol, alllyl pyrocatechin, terpene, cineol, caryophyllene, cadinene, methone.

Gumamela

Gumamela

Scientific name: hibiscus rosasinensis

Also known as:

Antolangan, arotangan, china rose, hibiscus, kayanga, saysaya, shoeflower, tapolanga, tapuranga, tarokanga, taukanga.

The flower buds is used in herbal preparation.

Uses:

Boil and abscesses- pound flower buds into a paste and apply over boils and abscesses to hasten pointing.

Gulaman

Scientific name:

Gracilaria compressa, gelidium corneum.

Also known as:

Agar-agar, Ceylon moss, guraman, gurguraman, kanten

 

Uses:

Constipation- strain mucilaginous decoction and take extracted jelly.

Diarrhea- strain mucilaginous  decoction , add enough water to prevent jelling and take as needed.

Food- blanch entire plant and eat as salad.

 

Active component:

Gelose, protein, fat, carbohydrates, galactose, fructose, pentose, iodine.
