Last October during the AGRILINK exhibit, we sat down and talked with Mr. Roger Parfitt, International Sales Manager of CEFN. A pig genetics expert, Mr. Parfitt excitedly told us about the sexing technology which he says, will soon be available in the Philippines in around two years time. This korea novela will be televised by GMA7 this November. The story is about Dong Yi, the daughter of a traitor/slave who entered the palace to avoid being caught/prosecuted. While in the palace, she tried to prove her father’s innocence. She is looking for a certain lady whom she believes  is working in the palace.  Being street smart made her rose to ranks from a musician assistant to a lady of the court and latter on a  concubine of the King.

Watching it is like watching Jewel of the Palace.  It is comparable to Jewel in the Palace and for sure this will be a hit Korean drama in the Philippines.

Kat Ordonez may anak kay Pacquiao?

Isang tsismis ang umiikot nitong mga nakaraang araw na kung saan sinasabi na si Manny Pacquiao daw ay may anak sa isang culinary student na nagngangalang Kat Ordonez.

Nag umpisa ang tsismis ng umattend si Pacquiao sa isang binyagan sa Saint Francis de Assisi saMandaluyong noong nakaraang September 17, 2011. Si Manny Pacquiao ay siyang naging ninong ng anak ni Kat Ordonez.

Todo tanggi naman si Kat Ordonez na si Manny Pacquiao ang ama ng kanyang anak.  Ang itinuturong ama ng anak ni Kat Ordonez ay ang dati niyang ex-boyfriend at assistant ni Manny Pacquiao. Ito din ang dahilan kaya kinuha  niyang ninong si Manny Pacquiao, naging malapit siya

In the Philippines, many farmers are reluctant to venture into tree farming because it does not provide them immediate returns, unlike the growing of agricultural crops. But in the long run, tree farming is more profitable since it means more money and conservation. Trees help conserve the land by minimizing excessive soil erosion and run-off. Wood products mean additional income to the farmer. In addition, a farmer doesn’t have to attend his trees all the time once they have grown up.

One tree that can be a good source of income for farmers and simultaneously help the environment is cashew (scientific name: Anacardium occidentale). The forestry department of the University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB) puts it this way: “Planting cashew trees in idle lands may be the best solution to our land conservation problem. As an agricultural crop, cashew trees provide vegetative cover to barren lands and help minimize soil erosion. There is also money in cashew.
