Philippines World’s Top Importer of Rice

Philippines is the World Top Importer of Rice

The Philippine is considered as an agricultural country but it is the world top importer of rice. It is a bit ironic. Add to the insult is that years back we are the one who teaches our neighboring country about agriculture but today we are the one who is importing agricultural product from them.

Currently the country is importing 2.2 million tons of rice every year (source:goldsea.com). By doing so, the government is shouldering the burden of paying high and selling low. They pay high in the world market and sell it low so our kababayan can afford it.

Due to some alleged hording and unscrupulous pricing the government is now investigating the distributors of NFA rice and will charged accordingly.

Credit card and privacy.

Credit card and privacy.

Is there no privacy now a day? Aren’t you surprised that there is a credit card in your mail even if you didn’t apply for it? And you just need to call them to activate it. Or the worst-case scenario is that a collecting agent is asking you to pay for a certain card which to your knowledge you did not apply for and somebody is actively using it.

So, bakit ba nila ito ginagawa?

Ms. Janina San Miguel – Bb. Pilipinas winner

Well, many are condemning her because of her wrong grammar/ wrong english but the question is – is correct grammar / good english a must for a beauty pageant? She joined a beauty pageant not a grammar contest. Although, in beauty contest you need brains but it doesn’t equate that if you have poor grammar you are already “bobo” .

I posted this topic in the social issue because this is a social problem. We look at people who could speak fluently in english so high and mighty! Guest, what! It is a possibility that it is the only area that person is good at. It show how colonial mentality we are.

Personally, i cannot connect her answer to the question but maybe the judges have seen the true beauty and intelligence of Ms. Janina San Miguel.
