Ms. Janina San Miguel - Bb. Pilipinas winner

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Well, many are condemning her because of her wrong grammar/ wrong english but the question is - is correct grammar / good english a must for a beauty pageant? She joined a beauty pageant not a grammar contest. Although, in beauty contest you need brains but it doesn’t equate that if you have poor grammar you are already “bobo” .

I posted this topic in the social issue because this is a social problem. We look at people who could speak fluently in english so high and mighty! Guest, what! It is a possibility that it is the only area that person is good at. It show how colonial mentality we are.

Personally, i cannot connect her answer to the question but maybe the judges have seen the true beauty and intelligence of Ms. Janina San Miguel.

Naruto Shippuuden Video

Naruto Shippuuden is the continuation of the TV series Naruto. The story is 2 1/2-3 years after the last Naruto TV series. They are older and slightly more mature now. But still the main goal of Naruto is the same, to save Sasuke / Saske from Orochimaru. The story also focuses on the Akatsuki, a group of ninja who want to use the power of the Kyuubi (tailed demon). Naruto is a Jinchuurki (person that have a kyuubi sealed in their body) because of this the Akatsuki is after him.

Merck to pay $650 Million Dollar as settlement.

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Merck will pay the US government the sum of $650 million dollar as a settlement for allegedly failing to pay proper rebates for Medicaid and giving medical providers illegal remuneration to promote their product.

Gee, i hope this is applicable here in the Philippines. Although there is a generic law and also there is a proposed cheaper medical bill, this bill does not have enough teeth to outlaw the practice of Pharmaceutical company to give incentives to medical practitioner’s who promotes their product not base on the effectiveness but on the rebates he/she earns. I’m not saying that they are all like this but there are some who do this.
